How to get there: Access from M18 north is via junction 6. Take A614 to Rawcliffe then turn right to Rawcliffe Bridge. As you enter the village the ponds are on the right before the Rawcliffe Bridge Hotel. The access road can take cars and coaches. From M62 Junction 36 take the A614 to Rawcliffe where you turn left to Rawcliffe Bridge.
Visitor facilities: Car parking on site and good surfaced paths around both lakes. Fishing. Picnic area with tables and benches.
What to see: Former brickworks and sugar refinery next to the Aire and Calder Navigation canal with two small lakes. Mature trees enclose the site from the surrounding farmland and open meadows. About 70 species of resident birds have been recorded including great crested grebe, kingfisher, great spotted woodpecker and barn owl. Water voles and grass snakes have also been seen on the site.
