How to get there: Phillips Park Road East, Bury.
Visitor facilities: Countryside Centre base at the Barn and includes a classroom, workshops and The Conservation Volunteers Bury office. Environmental Summer Play Scheme has operated for 12 years allowing local children to experience the environment and wildlife on their doorstep. Activities include pond dipping, mini-beast safaris and environmental games. 2 car parks, several walks, a walks leaflet.
What to see: Semi-natural woodland with wildflowers characteristic of ancient woodlands. Some open glades have remnant heathland. Species rich meadows with willow scrub. There are 4 mill lodges, 2 mill ponds and some seasonal ponds.

The woodland is dominated by oak, sycamore, birch, hawthorn and holly with willow and alder in the valley bottom. The species rich meadows include cuckoo flower, common spotted orchid, black knapweed, tufted vetch, and bird's foot trefoil. Butterflies such as orange tip and meadow brown are abundant.
